I do not have this problem when I set Fantom up as an external midi instrument in Logic Pro X. Without being able to hear the sound of Roland Fantom 8 via Logic Pro X, I am unable to handle any audio coming out of Fantom even if it is being listened to by Logic Pro X, evidenced from the channel strip meter movements. However the Logic Pro X channel strip receiving audio signal from Roland Fantom 8, does not output the sound to Logic Pro X master buss stereo out and hence no sound can be heard in the speakers/monitors connected to “Apogee Ensemble”, which I had chosen as the output device in Logic preferences and project audio settings. When I play keys on Fantom 8, I can see meters move on both the Apogee Ensemble inputs and Logic Pro X channel strip (audio input 1/2). When I create a new project in Logic Pro X, I use audio settings where I choose “Roland Fantom 06/07/08” as the input device and “Apogee Ensemble” as the output device.
